Qualified for FHA, place in offer for a home at asking price, the house needs some work, doors, fix hurt walls.
House is being sold "as is"
Can't we just buy the house and then repair the walls and doors.
We have the down payment, and still some extra for the repairs, so we wouldn't have to go through the 203k.
We want to pay for everything out of our own pocket. and not include it in the loan.
Is it even possible? if not why?
will the FHA Inspector just say no to the whole deal.
What do they look for in an FHA Inspection?
We only qualified for an FHA , not a conventional loan…
This is in CA.
My main question was WHY?
Why must a home be in go in condition if using an FHA loan.
Yes, there is a reason to buy now, and the reason is that I like the property and don't want to loose it!

The lender has the last word and if the lender will not fund the loan you may not get the house unless you try for a conventional loan. Even then you may not be able to do what you want, but if they lend you the money and you have to do enough fix up to satisfy them you will have money left over to do additional work.
