Can I get a FHA/HUD loan if I’ve declared bankruptcy?

I am declaring bankruptcy and giving back my home which is financed with a Veterans Loan, will I qualify in 2-3 years for a HUD/FHA loan, if my credit is perfect, after the Bankruptcy or will I have to pay the government back first for there loss? I live in KY.

You might qualify right now for subsidized housing payments with your debt to income ratio. Call HUD and question what subsidized housing programs they have available.
The savings in mortgage payments may offset what you would save by filing bankruptcy.

In any event, bankruptcy doesn’t affect subsidized housing. It is designed for people who can’t get a loan anywhere else.
