I am refinaning FHA loan. The lender said I must place insulation under the house according to the HUD appraiser. I called HUD to find out the requirement but the rep I spoke with could not find where it states that I MUST have it done.
I told this to my lender. He said that IF the appraiser said it has to be done then that is that because he is approved by HUD.
I do not want to place insulation under my home. I dread this may cause mildew or mold if any dampness gets under there . Please can someone tell me the rules I have already paid the appraiser . Do I get my money back ? HELP
This is not a newly built home
I spoke with FHA in Atlanta. GA. They could not find any requirements for insulation and question to have my lender call them. I question him but he wouldn't.

it depends on the appraiser….if you're doing a streamline refinance than the appraisal isnt necessary.
you only get your money back if you rescind …which you may not get to that point
