How would you deal with this landlord situation?

Hi I live in Rochester new york I have been very miserable living here lately since I have no job or no opportunity the corps here give people with small disabilities such a hard time if you wear a hearing aide. I know its said to be a friendly city to persons with disabilities or so forth but thats not what I am experiencing. well anyways i applied for an apartment with Alia Management In Rochester New York. basically it seemed all fantastic, because they promised me they would fix the place. Really when they had me pick the key up a day before the first of Feburary. When I entered the apartment the folllowing day there was mice poop all over the apartment , terrible lighting electrical problems, dirty stained carpet, doors that would not lock or open terrible plumbing, half of the house did not have working electric, water flooded the basement floors anytime I washed the laundry, mices and rats were running all over the place trash was everywhere in the house outside, the house was horrible. i saw the maintenace men who work on the apartments Jeff Williams roofing and crew and I questioned Jeff if he was coming to end fixing the apartment. Jeff said the apartment was already done. I was in fantastic disbelief and in fact I thought I wasnt even hearing him. I am seriously struggling to find a new place and the rents are far higher I filed a complaint with Hud. can anyone tell me what you would have done if you ran into these problems , I have questioned the landlord nd the workers in the office for my security deposit back they said when I find a new place. prior to that I was reading the packet that had their response to my complaint and found that they had forged my name on some lease that I never even signed or even seen. they told a lot of lies that werent even right and that I begged them to allow me to go and Ill be patient that they will fix the place they lied What would anyone do with this experience. This feels like a horrible nightmare.
