I wouldn’t accrue a late fee, being that it would close on 15th. But is this a excellent thought, or is it 50/50, no huge deal either way?

I closed on my home 02/05/2009, I know I can claim the $8000 credit on my 2008 return, but can I also claim the other funds paid to close that are normally allowed for a purchase on the 08 return as well ?
