On my FHA loan application we were approved but? HELP?

We received a DU Approval which I guess is a pre-approval but since the co-applicant(my wife) has not worked for 2 years the underwriter is saying her income can not count.

She could not work because she did not have a green card or social security card and would have been illegal to work. She was here legally and came on a Marriage visa(K-3 visa) but could not work because of her situation. Is there anything we can do??

Or are we not going to get a loan and should we just give up for now/?

A friend of mine is a loan officer and she told me a letter of employment from her new job may suffice and show the income they need to get the paperwork pushed through.

Call your loan officer and have him/her check with the underwriter about the steps you can take to make this happen.

Don't be so quick to jump to another mortgage company YET – but let them know you have someone in the wings if they don't want to help.
