questions about fha mortgage (underwriting)?

I'm trying to refinance my mortgage (FHA) My loan officer has been fantastic. He told me Friday morning that the loan was in underwriting. How many days will this take? I am so impatient. Also, he said we werent going to get the appraisal done on my home until everything came thru as approved? Anyone know anything about this?

It sounds like he can't get an automated approval which would be minutes to get. If I have to send a loan to an UW it is usually less than 24 hours. I am not a broker though. It goes to my company's UW. Sounds like he is waiting to make sure you can get approved to order the appraisal. I do the same thing if it is an iffy file. I don't want to spend my client's money if he can't get a loan. I feel it's the right thing to do.

FHA is not so picky about the property anymore so don't listen to some of these posts. That rule has been gone for about 2 years. Sounds like you have a excellent LO so listen to him.
