We are about to buy a HUD home with mold in one room. We have experance with rehabing homes. But none with mold. Should we just take down the wall and clean the studs. The walls are the ancient plaster and lattis. That really sucks I know!!! The hold is in the center of the wall. In a few areas. I am guess it has grown up from the basement. We were also told there is mold in the basement. I know I can used bleach in the basement and all will be fine there.

Yes I knew about the mold. I paid only 1500 for this home. We are both able to take down walls rebuild them. I just have no clue who to take care of this problem. Do I take the wall down then clean the mold out of the studs. What is best stuff to use. Someone has gotten to know steps to take care of this problem.

If we are unable to take care of the problem then we will hire someone to do it. Money is not an issue for this problem. There is no siding. It is an 1800’s house and has the ancient plaster and lattics. We are thinking the mold is from the basement and went up into the lving room. It is only in two remote areas. There is one small area in the basement. Yes I know it can be larger. Also this is not blackmold. It is green in color.

You are telling me to rip the wall down right. And replace the studs??? I was already planing on doing this. But how do I take care of the mold in the basement and areas I can’t take down.
this home has been vacant for over 9 months. Yes the home is distressed home. But hey I only got it for 1500 LOL… Mold does not bother me. We are all healthy people. I just want to get the problem take care of. There was a person who posted about the heat and ac not working. After you said that then it made more sence as to why there was mold in there. The home is very dry. No leaks based on HUD report and also inspection report.

Thursday, August 13th, 2009so i am about to refinance, they send an appraiser out and today i get a call that the appraisal came in but there are a couple things i need to do to meet fha guidelines. under my back door there is chipped paint, and on some of the trim and door on my garage there is chipped paint. I knew about this and had plans to replace all my trim this spring with vinyl. BUT, it appears i have to scrape and paint these effected area b4 the appraisal will be valid so here is where i need help. i live in WI. right now it is below zero so my best guess is that painting is not an option so i thought about buying new trim, painting it inside and then putting it up. the problem is i don’t know how i am going to get the ancient stuff off (everything is frozen) so most likely i would cause more hurt. does any one have any thoughts? a quick fix? I also have been looking for a door for my garage side entry and can’t seem to find just a solid wood exterior door i have to cut it down nearly 10 inches so it must be plain. it is really weird that i have to do these things in order to get my refinancing but with that said i do and don’t have a clue how i will achieve it.

Living in one state and getting a check from SS in another state. checks are deposited in a checking account that has hers and her husbands name on. She is living in a hud apt facility and doesn’t claim his income so she gets help with her housing payment. They are still married and her husband thinks she is just staying with her mother while she is ill. She lives here and he lives there and they still share a checking and he thinks she still lives with him and he has no clue. She also claims to be disabled and gets a check for this. Should I report this? Should I let her husband know that she is using him

How can I prepare for an appraisal?
Friday, June 26th, 2009My family has been able to refinance with a FHA loan. I bought the house in 07 and I have no experience with appraisals. The appraiser said we could most likely come in 5K more than we originally paid, but I need to ensure this happens to cut down costs. What can I do to prepare for an appraisal? She told me painting really wouldn't change the value. The comps have upgraded kitchens but we've got a new roof and new high end a/c unit, furnace, and water heater. What else can I do to add value?
Does everything need to be perfect inside and non-cluttered? I have three small children and have no clue how "clean" and "uncluttered" everything needs to be.

to the person who thinks borrowers got in over thier head they got where they are in most cases by being talked or fooled into crappy mortgages. by irresponsable brokers and L/O's most borrowers have small to no clue what a mortgage is about and the programs.
make no mistake my home is paid for!!!
the foreclosures people are facing is mostly due to greedy brokers and loan officers. and people forgeting that we should do what is best for the borrower. those brokers and banks that go under probably deserve it!
i know noone shoud get bailed out! i just reckon its more than a bit ironic that the oil companies are doing so well and the bush's are oil people. i dont reckon there is a quick fix here. but i reckon the american public deserve more than.
