We are about to buy a HUD home with mold in one room. We have experance with rehabing homes. But none with mold. Should we just take down the wall and clean the studs. The walls are the ancient plaster and lattis. That really sucks I know!!! The hold is in the center of the wall. In a few areas. I am guess it has grown up from the basement. We were also told there is mold in the basement. I know I can used bleach in the basement and all will be fine there.

Yes I knew about the mold. I paid only 1500 for this home. We are both able to take down walls rebuild them. I just have no clue who to take care of this problem. Do I take the wall down then clean the mold out of the studs. What is best stuff to use. Someone has gotten to know steps to take care of this problem.

If we are unable to take care of the problem then we will hire someone to do it. Money is not an issue for this problem. There is no siding. It is an 1800’s house and has the ancient plaster and lattics. We are thinking the mold is from the basement and went up into the lving room. It is only in two remote areas. There is one small area in the basement. Yes I know it can be larger. Also this is not blackmold. It is green in color.

You are telling me to rip the wall down right. And replace the studs??? I was already planing on doing this. But how do I take care of the mold in the basement and areas I can’t take down.
this home has been vacant for over 9 months. Yes the home is distressed home. But hey I only got it for 1500 LOL… Mold does not bother me. We are all healthy people. I just want to get the problem take care of. There was a person who posted about the heat and ac not working. After you said that then it made more sence as to why there was mold in there. The home is very dry. No leaks based on HUD report and also inspection report.

I have been watching a certain house since May 08. House finally went on the market in January 2009. Called about it immediately after seeing the sign in the yard and someone else had a contract on it. The previous owner had let the home go into foreclosure so it was bank owned.
The people with the contract on the house found out while doing a title search that the title was not clear due to some IRS tax issues. I zoomed in for the kill. I didn’t care how long the wait was, I would wait it out for this house…signed contract in February for 15000 more than they were selling the house for. I was getting an FHA loan and was assured it would pass. Got news it did not pass due to a waterleak in the basement, realtor went in and fixed the problem but because the house had been vacant for over a year, the water problem had caused a mold issue in the downstairs closet.
I had a health inspector go out at my expense and check the house. Only mold was the mold in the corner of the closet downstairs. could be fixed really easily.
Was informed it would not go FHA cause of my appraiser saw the mold in his prelim appraisal and he would have to note it in the report.
Now that the contract fell through, they have relisted the house for 17000 less than I offered the first time.
My question is, can I sign a second contract on the house and go conventional this time?
the house is only selling for 67000 it is in a nice location and itis 5br 3 ba 2700 sq. ft. no mold anywhere else but in that corner of the closet downstairs

I rented a place about a month ago, I stupidily rented without getting written proof of things. Our lease, is just an application and it doesn’t say who is responsible for what. Before we went in, they had agreed to fix stuff up before we went in and the man tried to get me to sign up for HUD because I’m pregnant and it might help on rent. I didn’t sign up for it though. The rent is 375 and deposit was 475, an extra 100 for pets. I paid rent and the extra hundred, but not the rest of the deposit. They never came and questioned for it and the things they said they would fix was never done, and this was when we first went in. They never even told us where to go and pay rent. Coming to live there I have found a lot of things incorrect that I wouldn’t want my own pets to live there. I didn’t know that the water hurt was so terrible that when I looked out the window I started to go through the floor. Underneath the kitchen sink had poo..yes, poo underneath it and the board is rotting. The bathtub is slanted and moves down everytime you step in it. There is a bullet hole in a window that he said he would fix if someone went in. He had even said that he would lay plywood down for the sink. It was supposed to come furnished with a stove and fridge. The fridge when you opened it had literal mold on the racks. So we finished up getting our own and there was no stove. He said that he would bring one, and when he didn’t bring it within two days time, we called and he said he forgot and he was out of town. We never got a stove until 2 weeks later and it is sitting on our porch. Normally I would just bring it in but when we looked in it there was all sorts of goo and leftover french fries. Is there anything I can do? Especially where I didn’t end paying the deposit? By the way, I’m moving I found a place that I wouldn’t mind my child living in. So I’m moving this weekend. What should I do?
