A question about my mom’s landlord..?
My mother lives in a house that was converted into 2 apartments. An upstairs apartment and my mom’s is downstairs/main floor with basement. The property also has a garage.
Yesterday my mom’s landlord stopped by and told my mom that she has to go everything she owns out of the basement which is connected to her apartment and remove nearly all her belongings out of the garage by Friday. Can he legally do this in the state of Missouri?
My mom’s upstairs neighbor is on HUD but my mom is not. My mom also has disabilities that make lifting and going up and down the basement stairs hard. Any help would be appreciated.
My mom used to be on HUD and had both a writen contract with HUD and one with the landlord that included the basement and garage. After she was no longer on HUD she questioned him about making out a new contract and he said he would just do a verbal month to month lease.
My mom is not being told yet that she has to go just to get rid of her belongings in the basement and the garage.
