We are first time home buyers who got pre approved for an FHA home loan and our offer was accepted?

We have had the appraisal and the house inspection and it passed. All our paper work is in and its been a week. Our closing date is May 29th so why havent we heard anything back yet? How long does it normally take? its nearly May and you would reckon since we close in May we would have heard something by now.

FHA loans usually take one month PLUS to close. Underwriters at the banks are so booked up right now. You just have to play the waiting game like everyone else. There are so many people refinancing right now that the banks don’t have enough staff. Be patient.

In this market, FHA loans can be 1-2 months. You can always call your lender for the status.
