      As a HUD watcher who has bid several times on HUD repos and bought one, I offer this advise:

      There is no way to tell. Generally they will take 90% or so on the first bid opening. Sometimes they will take considerably less than that if it goes to daily bids.

      But, sometimes these rules don’t hold right and of course you know that you are bidding against other people and you never know what they will bid. HUD’s asking price and estimated value are no guide. I did find that the county’s assessed price was some guide – maybe because everyone else was using it too.
